In class today students took notes on #38 Electronic Configuration and Bohr Models. We will continue practicing configuration and Bohr models on Monday.

In class today, students read the textbook about properties within groups. As they read, students filled out a note page and colored the groups on a copy of the periodic table. Please see the powerpoint slide for additional information. This is page #37 Group Properties notes

In class today students finished their notes on #35 Atomic structure and the arrangement of of elements. After their notes, students completed some practice problems where they had to find the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in various atoms. Third, students took notes on page #36 Groups and Periods Notes where they learned the differences between groups and periods as well as trends within the periodic table.
At the end of class students were given a copy of the periodic table and a homework worksheet which they are to complete tonight and turn in tomorrow. For the homework sheet, students should round the atomic mass numbers and neutron numbers to the NEAREST WHOLE NUMBER. Please review the documents below for the notes and homework sheet.

Students took their Chemistry Pt.1 Prequiz to start the new unit, then we watched Bill Nye Atoms and completed a video worksheet that will count as a grade. If students were absent during class they need to come to working lunch to make up the worksheet
